Adult & Pediatric General Dermatology
In the adult, adolescent, and child, Dr. Pezen provides expert diagnosis and treatment for disorders of the skin, hair and nails. He has seen and treated almost every disorder, both the common as well as the rare, as a faculty member in Dermatology at The University of Chicago. In order to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of his patients, Dr. Pezen also offers the following:
- XTRAC® Excimer Ultraviolet Laser-an exciting new and effective treatment for Psoriasis and Vitiligo
- Photodynamic Therapy used in treatment of extensive pre-cancerous lesions of the skin (Actinic Keratoses)
- Patch Testing for the investigation of allergic reactions of the skin
Surgical Dermatology
Removal of skin cancers, moles, cysts, and other growths of the skin and nails are performed in a large surgical suite located right within the office. This eliminates the need for the patient to travel to an unfamiliar hospital or surgical center to have his or her procedure performed. In addition, all procedures are conducted using local anesthesia, thus removing the potential risk of being “put to sleep".
Dr. Pezen has much experience in skin cancer removal; particularly the removal and cosmetic repair of skin cancers of the face. In fact, he formally instructed Dermatology residents in the art of skin surgery at The University of Chicago while a faculty member there.
